FAQ

How do CPAP Machines work?

A CPAP (Continuous Positive Airway Pressure) machine is a medical device used in the treatment of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA). It works by delivering a constant level of air pressure through a mask to keep the upper airway open during sleep.

This helps reduce or eliminate apneas (pauses in breathing), snoring, and disrupted sleep associated with OSA. CPAP therapy should only be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional and after a diagnosis from a qualified clinician.

When do I replace my CPAP Machine?

CPAP machines typically have a service life of 3 to 5 years, depending on the manufacturer and usage. Over time, performance may decline due to component wear or technological advancements.

Signs you may need a replacement include:

- Inconsistent pressure delivery

- Increased noise

- Outdated technology or features

- Clinical recommendation after re-evaluation

Only use TGA-registered CPAP devices and consult your healthcare provider to determine if a replacement is necessary.
